This video demonstrates two unique features commonly found on Cal Trans (California Department of Transportation) brush chippers. First is the Dust Suppression System, for reducing the amount of particulate matter (dust) that escapes a chipper while operating. Anyone who has ever chipped a pile of dry Tan Oak or burned wood will know exactly how handy this system is. Next is the Curbside Feed System, which turns the whole chipper frame towards the curb, positioning ground-men out of traffic and harms way. In a rural situation this will also allow for much wider brush piles. The unit being demo’d is a 2009 Morbark Storm 12, ex-Caltrans unit.
