I made this video over 13 years ago when I had a grinding job to do and a young man (who I help raise) with a nice camera needed work with that camera. He’s now a professional photographer and a father of 2.

This is a simple demonstration of how a large tow-behind stump grinder works. This machine is a Vermeer SC752 with a 75 hp Deutz diesel engine. The stumps are all old Blue Gum Eucalyptus that were cut down at least 6 years ago, some of them 10 years. The largest were two 45″ diameter stumps that had grown together, making a grinding diameter of over 90″ with several large roots to chase. Those two took approximately 20 minutes to grind out to a depth of 20″ although this machine can grind down to 2 feet.
